Feed Our Pack

In 2021 Wolves Foundation launched Feed Our Pack, an initial £500,000 project with the aim to help reduce the effects of food poverty and support residents of Wolverhampton who had been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The project was made possible by a £250,000 grant from the Premier League PFA Community Fund and a generous personal donation of £250,000 from former head coach Nuno Espirito Santo.

Why?

The cost-of-living crisis forcing more people to foodbanks and community shops.

Local primary schools identifying families struggling during half term.

How?

Grants, generous donations and support from key stakeholders and project partners, as well as fan donations.

Results

3700 distributed food parcels across the city to local primary schools.

85 pallets of food distributed to the Wolverhampton foodbank network.

Holiday activity camps provide free breakfast and lunch to support children during the holidays.

Food Parcels

So far, the project has distributed 3700 food parcels across the city to local primary schools who have identified families that are struggling during half term when free school meal provisions stop.

The increase in need for emergency food that we have seen since the start of 2022 demonstrates how the cost-of-living crisis is forcing more people to the doors of foodbanks and community shops. Many families do not do not have enough money to afford essentials such as heating and electricity.

We will continue to work with key stakeholders and project partners to find reliable and responsive ways to support residents in Wolverhampton experiencing food poverty.

Food bank network

One of the main functions of the Feed Our Pack project has been to continue to increase the volume of food being distributed by foodbanks and community groups to meet increased demands. We support a vast network of project partners that have vast knowledge and experience of providing food support and understanding the needs of their local communities.

With support from national food re-distribution charity HISFOOD we have so far distributed 85 pallets of food to the Wolverhampton foodbank network which is equivalent to 36 tonnes of food and over 100,000 meals.

We have also been able to top up the amount of food being distributed thanks to Wolves fan donations at our Feed Our Pack container in the fan zone, open prior to every home fixture.

Holiday Camps

Every half term Wolves Foundation run holiday activity camps across the community in local primary schools and community These include a programme of sports, physical activity, healthy eating and nutrition, enrichment and fun games.

Our vision is for children and young people within our community to be healthy, active, confident. The camps also provide free breakfast and lunch provision to support children during the holidays.
