Young fans will get their chance to take on a challenge for charity, with Wolves Foundation’s first ever Molineux Mile ahead of the Premier League fixture with Chelsea next month.
The visit of Chelsea has been designated as this year’s Foundation Focus Fixture, shining a light on the work of Wolves’ official charity which delivers over 40 projects to people of all ages and abilities across the city.
And so, from 9am-10am on Saturday, April 8th, fans under the age of 11 will, accompanied by an adult, be able to take part in a sponsored challenge, completing one mile around the perimeter of the pitch to raise funds for Wolves Foundation.
Three laps around the outskirts of the pitch is equivalent to a mile, with participants encouraged to raise a minimum of £35 in sponsorship, all proceeds going towards the Foundation’s Focus Fixture.
Wolfie and Wendy are also already in full training so that they will be there to take part on the day.
“This is a new event to give young people the opportunity to support our Focus Fixture, whilst also enjoying the chance to have one-off access to pitchside at Molineux,” says Carla Hentsch, fundraising & administration officer with Wolves Foundation.
“Unfortunately no one will be allowed on the pitch itself – for obvious reasons – but it should still be a really nice family event and the chance to enjoy the experience of being inside Molineux ahead of such a big game.
“We know how there are so many young people who are keen to try and help others and by completing a mile, and receiving some sponsorship, they can help make a real difference in their local community.
“All the funds raised from this event and our Focus Fixture will be directed back into delivering over 40 projects for people of all ages and abilities across the city.”
Each child must be accompanied by one parent or guardian and each adult can only bring a maximum of two children per person.
The cost for a ticket is ÂŁ3 for a child and ÂŁ2 for an adult, with children encouraged to raise ÂŁ35 through sponsorship. Adults are not expected to fundraise.
This is an accessible event, however please be aware there may be some low level ramps in preparation for matchday.
Parking will be available in the Stan Cullis Stand Car Park and registration will open at Gate D of the Stan Cullis Stand at 8.45am.
