Premier League Primary Stars

Premier League Primary Stars uses the positive power of professional football clubs to inspire children to be active, look after their wellbeing and develop important life skills.

We aim to inspire children aged 5-11 both in the classroom and on the sports field.

The Programme includes:

Supporting Teachers in PE.

  • Mentoring to enhance the skills and confidence of PE teachers, creating a sustainable workforce. Tailored programs focus on teachers’ specific needs, aligning with the national curriculum and incorporating techniques like SMILES, STEPS, and the four-corner model to support both physical education and children’s mental health and well-being.

Targeted Interventions

  • Footy Phonics is an active literacy intervention to support children in developing the important skill of understanding phonics. We have built this intervention based on current phonics research and programmes. In Footy Phonics, our coaches the tools to revise and reinforce phonics skills that have been taught in the classroom through football themed, engaging activities.
  • Premier League Reading Stars is a 10- week literacy intervention, purposely designed by the National Literacy Trust to stimulate literacy engagement in children in Years 5 & 6 years who love football but lack motivation in reading.
  • Active Maths will get pupils on their feet and actively engaged in practising their maths skills.
  • add and subtract pairs of one and two-digit numbers mentally
  • calculate factors and multiples of one and two-digit numbers mentally.
  • Active English activities will get pupils on their feet and actively engaged in putting their English skills into practice.
  • give and follow instructions to carry out short physical actions
  • develop their vocabulary and practice using adjectives to describe a given noun.

Projects for Positive Change

  • A project where young people can work together to create positive change, support others, and improve their community.

PSHE & Relationship education

  • Key PSHE subjects through the method of assemblies and workshops to all primary age pupils. With content written and quality assured by the PSHE association, the work delivered aims to use the power of football and sport to engage learners.

We are proud to offer a free mentoring programme supported by BBC Children in Need for primary schools in and around Wolverhampton.

What does this look like:

  • 6-week programme
  • Blend of classroom and practical sessions
  • Group discussions

Our aims for the children are:

  • Improved self-awareness and aspiration
  • Improved mental health and a better understanding of feelings and emotions
  • Improved friendships and social skills

Clean Air Champions League is a project that uses football to raise awareness about air pollution.

The project encourages everyone to get involved, not just by attending workshops, but also by learning about air pollution and taking steps toward healthier local environments.

  • Raise awareness about serious health issues that affects our community
  • Support long-term action for clean air and environmental justice
  • Understand where air pollution comes from
  • Raise awareness about local air quality
  • Using Air Quality Monitors to measure pollution around MolineuxUsing data to support local action to protect public health

Wolf Words is a brand-new programme from the Wolves Foundation, in collaboration with our midfielder João Gomes and Speech and Language UK. We’re here to support children across Wolverhampton who experience speech, language and communication challenges.

Why Wolf Words?

Speech and language difficulties can affect confidence, friendships and learning. Wolf Words helps children feel heard, included and supported in school and beyond.

What we do:

  • Build children’s confidence, resilience and self-esteem
  • Give them something fun, relaxed and positive to look forward to each week
  • Support parents and teachers to continue progress beyond our sessions

In-School Mentoring

  • 6 weekly sessions (approx. 1 hour each)
  • Small groups or 1:1 support in schools
  • Fun, interactive activities and resources tailored to each child

Parent & Teacher Resources

  • Created and provided by Speech and Language UK
  • Simple video guides with tips, strategies and activities
  • Designed to support children at home and in school

Molineux Education offers primary, secondary and college groups with the opportunity to visit Molineux to take part in a range of workshop activities whilst experiencing a behind the scenes tour at the home of Wolves.

The project aims to bring the curriculum to life by providing engaging and interactive workshops with the backdrop of Molineux Stadium.
