Wolves Foundation’s Kicks in the Park is branching out this summer offering even more locations for participants to come and take part in football-related activities.
The Premier League project run by the Foundation, which aims to help create safer and stronger communities for young people by using football as a vehicle, continues to run regular weekly sessions at the Arena at Aldersley, The Way Youth Zone, All Saints and Bilston College.
But during the summer holidays, the extra sessions will take place at Heath Town Park, West Park, Bantock Park, Phoenix Park, Hickman Park and East Park.
Activities will take place from 1pm-3pm for eight to 18-year-olds and are completely free of charge.
“We are once again really looking forward to staging Kicks in the Park and offering football-based activities for young people from across the city to enjoy during the summer holidays,” says Pippa Jukes, senior community and cohesion officer at Wolves Foundation.
“This year, as well as returning to the venues from previous years of Heath Town Park, West Park and Bantock Park, we have also decided to add three new venues across alternate weeks.
“It is always important for us as a Foundation to try and make sure we are engaging young people across the whole city, and by adding in Phoenix Park, Hickman Park and East Park, we can attract even more young people to come along.
“As staff out and about delivering activities in the local community, we have seen how busy these parks can be and hopefully the Kicks sessions will prove popular for all those who attend.”
As with the regular Premier League Kicks sessions, funded by the Premier League Charitable Fund, they will be based largely about football and participants will be grouped into their relevant age brackets for the activities.
But there will also be additional workshops and the chance to try out other activities as part of Kicks in the Park.
The timetable for the sessions (all 1pm-3pm) is as follows:
- Heath Town Park (Tuesdays): July 23, August 6, 20
- West Park (Wednesdays): July 24, August 7, 21.
- Bantock Park (Thursdays): July 25, August 8, 22.
- Phoenix Park (Tuesdays): July 30, August 13, 27.
- Hickman Park (Wednesdays): July 31, August 14, 28.
- East Park (Thursdays): August 1, 15, 29.
All young people are welcome and participants can just turn up at the venues on the stated days.
New participants will just need to complete a Key Information form upon arrival and under-14s would need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian when they arrive for their first session just whilst completing the form.
All PL Kicks participants who have previously registered can just turn up unaccompanied.
