Hundreds of supporters will enjoy their first taste of a Wolves’ game at Molineux this season thanks to a special initiative to mark the club’s 150th anniversary.

Wolves are donating up to 150 tickets per home fixture which will be distributed by Wolves Foundation, the club’s official charity, to participants who attend the range of projects delivered through the city, or other community groups working across Wolverhampton.

This means that, during this special anniversary year, supporters who might not normally be able to attend first team fixtures will have the opportunity to enjoy the magic of Molineux and Championship football in their home city.

James Davies, head of ticketing and membership with Wolves, said: “Our 150th anniversary season offers so many different opportunities to celebrate why Wolves is such a special club, as well as that connection we have with the city of Wolverhampton.

“Along with special events and initiatives taking place throughout the year, we are also really keen to engage with supporters who, for various reasons, may not have been able to visit Molineux before.

“There are still so many people from the city of all ages who have yet to experience the magic of a Molineux matchday, and, as part of our anniversary season, we want to open up that opportunity.

“Wolves Foundation, the club’s official charity, deliver so much fantastic work across Wolverhampton with a huge range of different projects, and they will be able to distribute the tickets to ensure more fans across the city can enjoy this special year.”

The giveaway will start at Friday night’s EFL Championship curtain-raiser against Blackburn, with Foundation participants heading to Molineux to enjoy the first league game of the season.

Tom Warren, general manager of Wolves Foundation, said: “We are delighted to be working closely with the club on this fantastic initiative to create the opportunity for supporters to enjoy a Molineux matchday for the very first time.

“Our work takes us into different communities across so many areas of the city, and we are aware of some of the challenges which can prevent supporters attending first team fixtures.

“Being able to facilitate this ticket giveaway will create the opportunity to be able to welcome so many of those supporters, along with representatives of local community groups, to enjoy a game at Molineux, and hopefully cheer the team on to a positive result.

“Another really positive part of this initiative is that, throughout this 150th anniversary season, we will be able to share some of the pictures and stories around these supporters, offering a reminder of the power of Wolves and what the football club means to the people of the city.”
