Wolves Foundation are helping thousands of primary school children across the city to learn through the power of football.
The Premier League Primary Stars initiative impacts over 19,000 schools in England and Wales, and Wolves goalkeeper Tom King visited Bushbury Hill Primary School to see the programme in action.
This week marks the start of the Premier League’s ‘More Than A Game’ campaign, showcasing how the league’s wide-ranging investment into all levels of football enables people connected to clubs to have a positive impact on their local communities.
King took part a dodgeball session led by Wolves Foundation staff, with the focus on teambuilding for the Year 5 class.
Wolves Foundation engage with more than 100 schools annually through Premier League Primary Stars, working in key areas such as PSHE, Physical Education, Maths and English.
The club’s official charity works with local primary schools throughout the academic year, making a difference to over 3000 children each week.
Richard Lewis, senior schools officer at Wolves Foundation, said: “A vital part of what we do at the Foundation is to support schools in the area, helping their children learn and grow through Premier League Primary Stars.
“We were delighted to have Tom King come to join us at Bushbury Hill. It was great to see his competitive spirit coming through and we know the kids really enjoyed themselves!
“Using the power of football and the Wolves badge, we are able to engage with children in a unique way. It really helps to encourage them to get active and develop those essential skills.”
Premier League Chief Executive Richard Masters added: “One of the great strengths of football is its ability to have a positive impact on people of all ages and backgrounds – from fans watching in the stands to the millions playing grassroots football, and all those involved in community programmes run by clubs.
“Thanks to the success of Premier League football, we are able to continue providing unparalleled investment to all levels of the game. This enables clubs to deliver life-changing community programmes week in, week out, in every part of the country.”
